We decided not to go ashore today. We visited Butrint and Sarande about four years ago and decided we didn’t need to see more neatly stacked old stones. Paul stayed in the room for a while charging things up and working on a few things.
Mary went up to the Lido deck to work on photos. She didn’t get a lot done as there were a
couple of other guests who had stayed on board so we all visited. At one point we were joined by the ship’s captain
who turns out to be quite chatty. But
eventually they all wandered off and Paul came up on deck, so the photo work
continued. It is a bit warm but there is
just enough breeze to keep it relatively comfortable.
In the afternoon they opened the “swimming pool”. That is, they sent a couple of zodiacs out to
string lines to mark off an area for swimming.
One of the ropes had a number of rafts attached for those who wanted to “lounge”
in the pool. Today, 33 out of the 46
guests (and a few of the crew) went swimming.
They had pool noodles for those who were a bit timid in the water.
Mary went in for a swim. Paul did not. The water was wonderful and had the benefit of being very buoyant so it wasn’t hard to relax and swim around. Great day.
This evening we were able to tour below deck in what had been the original owner's suites.
Marjorie Merriweather Post's suite.
Very luxurious.
