August 29 – At Sea

We are at sea all day today so no early morning wakeup call…unless you want breakfast.  It was over at 9:00.

We spent some time packing and then Mary went up to the Lido deck to spend some time working on photos and next year’s calendar.

Shortly before lunch they opened the “pool” and a number of the guests went swimming again.  This is a lot of fun but both Mary and Paul passed.

After lunch it was more packing and more work on the photos and blog.

The Sea Cloud rounded the southern tip of the Peloponnesus Peninsula where we had good views of the ancient city of Monemvasia.  The city is on a small island connected to the mainland by a causeway.  It is tucked at the foot of a massive plateau and is well-fortified with a massive wall around it.  It was founded in the 6th century and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe.  From what we could see at a distance it would be worth a visit someday.

In the evening, the Sea Cloud tradition of the Sea Shanty singers was held.  Good singing by some of the crew.
